Dove

I try to use organic soaps whenever possible, but when I run out, I use regular body washes or soap.

Well, I will no longer be using ordinary soap anymore. Why? Ordinary soap can leave soap scum on your body. That’s right—SOAP SCUM! That same gross, icky residue that can be found on your shower walls and curtains can be left behind on your skin! According to
Dove, “Soap leaves a layer of residue, or “soap scum,” all over skin after washing that leaves skin feeling dry and tight…Over time, the scum left by soap can actually damage the outer layer of skin, leaving it itchy and red.”

Soap scum is caused by the combination of certain ingredients in normal soap and the calcium in hard water—and most of our homes have hard water. Dove doesn’t contain the same harsh ingredients as normal soap, therefore it doesn’t interact the same way as soap does with calcium, therefore no soap scum!

To demonstrate this, the makers of Dove launched a television commercial that depicts an artistic dramatization of the soap scum that is left behind when you use normal soap.

Shocking isn’t it?

I received some samples of the Dove Beauty Bar, and although I’ve used it before, I never thought twice about its benefits. I always thought it smelled fresh and clean and left my skin feeling the same way, but this time I really took note of just how clean my skin was after I used it. Sure enough—my skin was clean, but it didn’t feel “squeaky” clean. My skin was soft and smooth, and not tight and dry. Of course, since Dove contains ¼ moisturizing cream, you wouldn’t expect anything less, right?
