Palm-Palms

If you've ever bathed a newborn or an infant, you should know how slippery they can get during bath time. I remember when DH & I first gave DS#1 a bath, it was a two-person effort—we were so worried DS#1 would slip out of our hands and get hurt! Thankfully, Jennifer Backstein created Palm-Palms to make bath time a lot easier and less worrisome!

The website states: “Holding a soapy, slippery little one can make even experienced parents wish they had a couple of extra hands…Stress no more! Palm-Palms baby bath grips provide a simple solution to making bath time the enjoyable and safe bonding experience it should be.”

I’m very, very lucky that DH gives our boys baths most of the time (I have yet to even give DS#2 a bath), so it was only proper that he try out the Palm-Palms.

Since the Palm-Palms package said “one size fits all," both DH and I tried them on to see if that was true. I have much smaller hands than DH, but the package didn’t lie—the Palm-Palms fit on both of our hands.

DH first tried the Palm-Palms on DS#2. He had no problems handling bottles of shampoo and baby wash with the Palm-Palms on. He put some baby wash on the Palm-Palms to scrub DS#2 and it lathered easily. Because DS#2 is only several weeks old and still so tiny, and DH has hands that are quite large, he had difficulty scrubbing DS#2 in some areas, so DH used a separate washcloth to scrub those areas. Despite this, the Palm-Palms did a great job in gripping our tiny boy, and when bath time was over, DH just tossed the Palm-Palms in the washer!

A few days later DH tried the Palm-Palms on DS#1. With DS#1, bath time was a breeze! He was able to use the Palm-Palms as both a bath grip and a washcloth. Since DS#1 is a lot bigger than DS#2, there weren't any areas DH had difficulty scrubbing and bath time went very smoothly!

According to DH, depending on the size of your hands and your little one, you may or may not need to use a separate washcloth while using the Palm-Palms, but the bottom line is Palm-Palms did a great job in providing a secure grip, and it can be a wonderful multi-tasking product that makes bath time easier. Note: The Palm-Palms are an assistive product only, so you should still exercise care and caution when handling your baby during bath time.
