Pillsbury-Home is Calling

With the holidays upon us, that means lots of time with friends and family, and lots of good eating! On many tables I’m sure you’ll find a variety of delicious dishes, many of which are made with Pillsbury products. One of my favorite Pillsbury recipes that tastes yummy and is very easy is Pizza Pinwheels, using Pillsbury Crescents. It’s an easy appetizer I often make and take to parties. The Crescents are even tasty by itself--soft, flaky, and a wonderful complement to any meal!

Pillsbury not only helps spread the holiday cheer through the wonderful dishes you can create with its products, but they are also helping to “spread the warmth of the holiday season.” How can you help Pillsbury spread the holiday warmth? Simply view the new Home is Calling campaign. Il Divo

One day DH and I were watching Oprah, and she was introducing a world-famous music group that we had never heard of. I don’t even remember what the group sang, but all I remember were the beautiful voices and how the music just resonated with me. Who was the group? Il Divo. Therefore you can imagine how excited I was when the One2One Network provided the opportunity to review Il Divo The Promise Luxury Edition and Il Divo The Christmas Collection CDs.

Il Divo “were initially brought together by pop impresario Simon Cowell in 2004, following an extensive worldwide audition process. The virtuoso blending of operatic technique with romantic and popular song took the world by storm, with sales of over 22 million. Their first three albums, 'Il Divo', 'Ancora' and 'Siempre' scored 36 number 1 chart positions across 26 countries.”

The music of Il Divo has an opera influence, and even though I’m not much of an opera fan, I can’t help but be captivated when I listen to their music. The Promise Luxury Edition has beautiful tracks. Although I don’t understand some of the language (Italian and Spanish), it doesn’t matter, because the songs just evoke feelings of romance and harmony.

Il Divo The Christmas Collection features many classic Christmas songs, and again, they are just beautifully sung. Listening to the CD really got me into the holiday spirit and I'll definitely be playing this CD very often this holiday season.

It retails for $39.99, is rated E for Everyone, and can be bought at Wal-Mart, Target, amazon.com, and other retailers. This is a creative adventure game that would be fun for the entire family (up to 4 players).

With the holidays coming up, this game would make a great gift. Do you know what else would make a great gift? How about a one-of-a-kind celebrity Build-A-Bear Workshop creation? Now through December 3rd, you can

Kiddopotamus

When DS was born, I had never heard of swaddling before. The nurses at the hospital showed us how to swaddle him, and DH was very, very good at it. However, if DH wasn’t around and the swaddling was my responsibility, let’s just say it didn’t go very well. The swaddle would always be too loose, and DS’s arms would pop out of the swaddle all too often. I was not good at swaddling at all. THANK GOODNESS for SwaddleMe Adjustable Infant Wraps by Kiddopotamus. I bought a few and even got some as gifts, and it made my life so much easier!

According to the website, you can “wrap your baby in the comfort of the SwaddleMe® and rest assured she will sleep safe, sound and secure. The renowned SwaddleMe® soothes infants and reduces symptoms of colic by recreating the soothing snugness of the womb. It also reduces the incidence of the startle reflex, helping babies to sleep longer. The award-winning SwaddleMe® has revolutionized the way babies - and parents - sleep around the world and it has forged an international renaissance in swaddling.”

With DS#2 now here, of course I’m using the SwaddleMe wraps again, and this time I’m even more grateful to Kiddopotamus because they now have an eco-friendly line of SwaddleMe wraps, two of which I have been fortunate to try out--one made from 100% Certified Organic Cotton (ARV $15.99) and another made out of Bamboo (ARV $14.99).

As with all the other SwaddleMe wraps, they are so simple to use. I love how I can remove the leg pouch for easy access to DS#2’s diaper when he needs changing, and I love how we can keep DS#2 swaddled in the car seat or swing thanks to the harness access slit.

I also like the designs of these SwaddleMe wraps. The Painted Dot design of the Organic Cotton SwaddleMe is cute and is great for either a boy or girl (the Organic Cotton SwaddleMe also comes in Natural). The designs of the Bamboo SwaddleMe wraps are very trendy--aqua with cocoa trim or raspberry with cocoa trim.

I love the entire SwaddleMe line—especially the eco-friendly SwaddleMe wraps, but I really love the Bamboo SwaddleMe. I’ve read about how soft clothing and other products are that are made from bamboo fibers, but until I actually felt the Bamboo SwaddleMe did I realize how soft they could be. I was so amazed. The Bamboo SwaddleMe is very light and super-duper soft, and it is also naturally anti-microbial, which means the fabric stays fresh longer.

Kiddopotamus’ SwaddleMe wraps are a must-have for any parent of an infant. SwaddleMe wraps are practical, eco-friendly, come in great designs, and best of all—they are a time and sanity saver!

Thank you Kiddopotamus!

The Libman Company

Until I had an opportunity through the Family Review Network to try the Wonder Mop from The Libman Company, I had never owned a mop. Why? The thought of all that dirty, yucky water on the mop head just grosses me out. To clean the floors in our house we normally use one of those popular cleaning tools you need to buy refill pads and cleaning solutions for. It works great and you can quickly toss the dirty pad in the trash.

So why did I want to try the Wonder Mop? First of all, the cost of the refills and solutions add up with the other tool I use, and I thought the Wonder Mop may be more cost-effective. Secondly, The Libman Company has over 100 years of experience in providing customers with great cleaning tools. However, the biggest reason why I wanted to try the Wonder Mop was because I won’t need to touch the mop head and my hands won’t get wet or dirty! According to the website, the Wonder Mop’s features are: “Non-woven, premium synthetic material. Absorbent and machine washable. Steel handle with hanger hole. Special wringer sleeve. Your hands never touch water!®”

After using the Wonder Mop on my kitchen floor, I was very pleased with both the product itself and its performance, The Wonder Mop is light and easy to handle. After soaking the mop head in hot water for 5 minutes, I wrung out the water, which was simple to do with the special wringer sleeve. My hands didn’t get wet at all!

As for its cleaning ability—it truly is “wonder”ful! It mopped up this dark sticky residue near my oven with ease, and my entire kitchen floor was spotless! I like that the mop head is antibacterial and reduces odor causing bacteria, and can be used on a variety of surfaces. The mop head is also very easy to clean—just snap it off and you can either hand wash it or throw it in the washer, and you can easily snap the mop head back on.

Not only does the Wonder Mop work wonders on your floors, but according to one of many tips on The Libman website, you can also use the Wonder Mop on hard to reach places, such as on the top of your cabinets or refrigerator.

Weiman Products

We’re having family over this week for Thanksgiving, so you know what that means…lot of cleaning! I’ve tried out a lot of wonderful eco-friendly cleaners before, and thanks to the Family Review Network, I was able to try out an eco-friendly floor cleaner—Perfect Planet’s Squeeze and Clean Floor Cleaner from Weiman Products. I’ve never used a cleaner that was made specifically for floors, and I have never used a Weiman Product before either, so I couldn’t wait to try out the Perfect Planet Floor Cleaner--especially since Weiman has been known for their cleaning products since 1941.

According to the Weiman website, you can "clean and protect floors in one easy step with eco-friendly, biodegradable Squeeze & Clean Floor Cleaner. It safely removes dirt, dust, grease and smudges while leaving floors and grout spotless and streak-free. This all-natural, plant-derived cleaning solution is free from harsh petrochemicals, ammonia, VOC’s and phosphates. Use regularly on most hard floors including finished hardwood, linoleum, vinyl, laminate, ceramic tile, marble, grouted tile and non-porous hard surface flooring."

I tried the Floor Cleaner on our kitchen floor, which has vinyl tiles. The Perfect Planet Squeeze and Clean Floor Cleaner did a great job cleaning. It didn’t have a chemical smell like other cleaners do, no streaks were left behind, and I love how it cleans AND protects at the same time. Because it's eco-friendly, I wasn't afraid to immediately walk on the clean floor as I normally am when I use a non-eco-friendly cleaner. I'm so glad I had a chance to try this product--I know I'll be using it on my bathroom floors too (also vinyl tiles).

The 27 oz. bottle of Perfect Planet Squeeze and Clean Floor Cleaner retails for $3.99 and can be purchased through the Weiman Products website and at other select retailers.

Show Me How

I'm always eager to learn how to do new things, but sometimes when I have to read through pages and pages of instructions, it’s a turn-off. When I received a copy of Show Me How-500 Things You Should Know, Instructions for Life From the Everyday to the Exotic by Lauren Smith and Derek Fagerstrom (HarperCollins, $24.95), I had a lot of fun learning a variety of things that were featured in the book.

What makes this book so different from others? Hardly any words are used—each thing the book shows you how to do is displayed with colorful graphics that are simple to follow and it really keeps you interested.

Show Me How was “designed to educate, amuse, and occasionally astound,” and it definitely does all three.

I was educated in so many ways—I learned how to pair wines with different foods, how to plant certain things (although I try to be green I definitely DO NOT have a green thumb), and how to do different yoga poses.

Many of the items are indeed amusing, such as how to have a memorable first kiss or add decades to my age.

And the book also shows you how to do a few astounding feats—such as how to harness the cloudbuster’s power and trick radar with a fake UFO.

Show Me How shows you how to do a wide range of things, from cooking to sports, parenting to pranks. I especially like how they show you how to do some eco-friendly things, like what you can do with old CDs (make a compact disc-o ball), playing cards (craft a playing-card wallet), and plastic bags (craft a plastic-bag throw rug).

***THIS GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED***

Congratulations to Kara!

I really enjoyed this neat and informative book, and I know I will be referring to it often. HarperCollins has generously donated a copy of Show Me How so you can learn something new too!

BeFit-Mom

Recently having given birth to DS#2, the timing was perfect when I had the opportunity to review the BeFit-Mom website and Bounce Back Fast! The Post Natal Core Conditioning DVD thanks to the Family Review Network.

According to the website, “BeFit-Mom, founded by perinatal exercise specialist and author Helene Byrne, is dedicated to helping women stay fit and healthy during and after their pregnancies, and to inspiring and motivating women to lead their entire families to better health and wellness.”

BeFit-Mom is an excellent resource for women who are pregnant or recently gave birth on how to stay fit. The site focuses on different types of exercises, why they are good for you, and how they can help during pregnancy, labor and delivery, and post-partum recovery. The various exercises are explained in depth, and there is great detail about how your body is structured and how different parts function in order for you to understand the importance of the exercises and how to achieve optimum results.

While I was still pregnant with DS#2, Helene had referred me to some key exercises on the BeFit-Mom website that are safe to do during pregnancy that help strengthen the abs, particularly the deep Transverse Abdominis, which is the primary "pushing" muscle. They were simple to do, and valuable to learn. I just wish I had discovered the BeFit-Mom website earlier so I could’ve been much fitter and better prepared for labor and delivery with both sons!

Why is it important to “be fit”? According to the website, “During Labor and Delivery, Fit Women Experience:
• Easier adaptation to the lower-intensity endurance activity of early labor.
• Shorter first and second stages of labor.
• Enhanced pain tolerance.
• Increased stamina for labor and delivery, with less perceived exertion during labor.
• Lower incidences of intervention during labor.
• Substantially fewer caesarian births.
• Good pelvic muscle
tone—resulting in fewer episiotomies/tearing.”

A perfect complement to the BeFit-Mom website is the Bounce Back Fast! The Post Natal Core Conditioning DVD ($21.95), which “provides a unique set of progressive exercises that specifically target postnatal physiology and concerns.”

The DVD includes a Fitness Band, and is basically divided into two parts—Gentle First Moves (for beginners and those less than 6 weeks post-partum), and Bounce Back Fast (for those more advanced and beyond 6 weeks post-partum).

Because I’m not past 6 weeks post-partum yet, I did the Gentle First Moves exercises. The exercises were not strenuous—they were indeed very gentle on my body. Helene was very thorough in her explanations of the different exercises and how they are beneficial. My body feels great whenever I do the exercises. I especially enjoy using the Fitness Band to stretch out my hamstrings and calves, and doing the chest stretches, which opens up my chest and aligns my upper body in the neutral position, since I’m constantly carrying DS#2 and nursing him. I sometimes do these exercises without the DVD! I know I'm helping my body recover and I'm strengthening my core little by little each time I do the exercises, and I’m looking forward to getting even fitter and doing the other exercises once I’m beyond 6 weeks post-partum.

As always, it’s important to consult your physician or health care professional before you start any exercise program.

Helene stresses it’s important to take care of not only baby, but to take care of yourself too. Be-Fit Mom and Bounce Back Fast! The Post Natal Core Conditioning DVD will help you do just that—enable you to take better care of yourself, so you and your entire family can reap the benefits of a “Fit Mom!"

Thank you to BeFit-Mom for providing the product(s) for review and/or giveaway.

Pacific Shaving Company

I recently had the opportunity to review a couple of products from the Pacific Shaving Company thanks to the Family Review Network—All Natural Shaving Oil and Nick Stick.

According to the Pacific Shaving Company website, the “All Natural Shaving Oil™ offers a consistently smooth shave, reduces nicks and razor burn, and leaves your skin conditioned and moisturized - all with the best natural ingredients available and no mess to clean up when finished!”

I’ve had my share of nicks and cuts after shaving, so I was eager to see what a difference the shaving oil would make.

First of all, I was amazed at how much usage could come out of one tiny bottle—I received the ½ oz. bottle ($6.95) which can last up to 100 shaves! I used 5 drops on each leg and massaged the oil all over. The scent was very mild and “citrus-y.” At first I was a bit wary because after massaging the oil on my legs, there was only a thin layer of oil on my skin—so thin that I thought it wasn’t enough to protect it from razor burn. But I was wrong—my razor glided smoothly over my legs—no razor burn, no nicks. The oil is great because it’s clear so you can see where and what you’re shaving (on more than one occasion I had shaved over an existing cut when using soap or cream. OUCH!). I was also anticipating that an oily residue would be left on my skin after shaving and rinsing, but again I was wrong—there was no oily residue left.

Another big reason why I think the All Natural Shaving Oil is great is because it's environmentally friendly. According to their website:

  • Our 1/2 oz. bottle takes up 95% less space than a shaving cream can
  • Use of our product has already eliminated approx. 20,000 lbs of shaving cream cans from landfills
  • Small size and weight means reduced energy consumption and carbon emissions in supply chain
  • Pacific Shaving plants a tree for every bottle of shaving oil sold
  • Made in the USA

I also received a sample of the Nick Stick ($5.95). The Nick Stick “Stops bleeding quickly - no more tissue paper; Dries clear - no chalky residue; Rolls on - self-sterilizing applicator.”

Since I’ve been using the All Natural Shaving Oil, I fortunately haven’t had any nicks, therefore I haven’t had a need to use the Nick Stick. However, I’m sure it’ll come in very handy because nicks are inevitable, and if it can stop the bleeding quickly, all the better!

If you’re looking for an alternative to shaving cream that is environmentally friendly, and a way to stop bleeding quickly if you get nicked by a razor, check out the Pacific Shaving Company’s All Natural Shaving Oil and Nick Stick--you’ll be pleasantly surprised. They even guarantee your satisfaction—try the All Natural Shaving Oil, and if you are not completely satisfied after 60 days, you can return it to Pacific Shaving Company for a full refund. What have you got to lose (other than unwanted hair)?

Thank you to Pacific Shaving Company for providing the product(s) for review and/or giveaway.

Natural Pod

With the holidays just around the corner, many parents are looking for safer alternatives to toys that they would normally buy at popular department stores. Thanks to Mommy Go Green Blog Tours, I discovered one such company that offers a variety of natural toys--Natural Pod.

Based in Canada, Natural Pod "began out of our own desire to have beautiful, open-ended, natural toys for our children and a way to discover what is new and interesting in the world…As parents we found it increasingly difficult to find quality natural play items that supported creative and imaginative play. During our search, we soon realized that many parents shared our passion. We hope to encourage more families to discover the benefits of natural toys and rediscover a true sense of play. These items can become an heirloom, passed down from one generation to the next."

I found many unique and fun toys browsing through Natural Pod’s selection. I would have loved to have the
Chef’s Kitchen and Hutch when I was a little girl, and I bet DS would love playing in and decorating the Cardboard Rocket. Besides so many neat toys, Natural Pod also offers great Arts and Crafts items, Musical Instruments, Games, and so much more—and they are all made from natural materials!

Natural Pod is offering a discount of 10% off your first order using the code: “GCM08" during the check out process (cannot be combined with other offers); offer expires December 31, 2008.

Visit Natural Pod to find a unique gift for your child this holiday season that’s not only safe, but fun and creative. You’ll find something that both you and your child will love.

Refresh'n Dryer Towel

When I first heard about the opportunity to review the Refresh’n Dryer Towel through the Family Review Network, I was a bit hesitant to express my interest, probably because of how I’m a bit of a germaphobe and the thought of wearing clothes that haven’t been washed didn’t sit well with me. However, after finding out that there are environmental benefits from using the Refresh’n Dryer Towel, and that it’s chemical-free and non-toxic, I was eager to try it.

According to the website, “By using the Refresh’n Dryer Towel, you will not only save time, money and prolong the life of your clothing. You will help in the conservation of our vital resources. In the United States alone, there are over 115 million households that on average wash 400 loads of laundry per year. That is over 2 trillion gallons of water and 132 billion kilowatt hours of electricity used per year just to wash and dry our clothing.”

Pretty staggering statistics huh?

The Refresh’n Dryer Towel ($9.95) looks like any other towel, but it feels different from a “normal” towel. Exactly how does it work? The website states that “HOT air flow from the dryer passes through the uniquely sewn weave pattern with our revolutionary P2 fibers to create the steaming effect that removes bacteria, dirt, odor, and wrinkles from clothing. [It uses] Split Fiber technology that creates millions of massaging strands that lift and trap surface dirt and odor while reviving your clothing’s fabric."

Using the Refresh’n Dryer Towel was pretty simple. First I placed 3 items in the dryer—DH’s denim shorts and cotton shorts, and one of my cotton jackets, all of which were used just once. I then saturated the Refresh’n Dryer Towel with tap water and had to wring out the excess water. Wringing out the excess water did take quite a while—it could be because I saturated the towel too much or maybe I was just weak and weary from caring for a newborn, but that part took longer than expected.

Once all the excess water was gone, I laid the Refresh’n Dryer Towel flat on top of the clothing. After ensuring the lint trap was clean (as I always do whenever I use the dryer), I turned the dryer on high heat for 10 minutes.

When the ten minutes were up, I immediately took out the 3 items. I was pretty impressed, and so was DH. The clothes appeared fresh and odor-free, and I was surprised that even though the wet Towel was on top of all of the clothes, the clothes were not damp at all.

The Refresh’n Dryer Towel will not shrink, spot, or fade your clothes, and if you want to freshen up more than 3 items, you simply need to use two Towels at a time to freshen up to 8 items.

Despite my initial skepticism, the Refresh’n Dryer Towel is definitely something I would use again (reusable up to 25 times), especially during those times when I need to leave the house and find that my favorite pair of jeans has yet to be washed—I know in just 10 minutes it’ll be fresh and ready to wear thanks to the Refresh’n Dryer Towel.

Thank you to Refresh'n Dryer Towel for providing the product(s) for review and/or giveaway.

R.W. Knudsen Family's Sensible Sippers

I’m always looking for new organic snacks and drinks for DS, so I was really looking forward to reviewing Sensible Sippers from the R.W. Knudsen Family of products thanks to the Family Review Network.

According to their website “Sensible Sippers are certified USDA Organic and feature classic Berenstain characters…True to their name, Sensible Sippers are 50% organic juice and 50% water, reducing the amount of sugar in each serving without compromising taste.”

DS was able to try the Apple and Fruit Punch Sensible Sippers. I like how the juice comes in a convenient box that we can take anywhere, and how it’s unbreakable—especially since I found DS crushing and squeezing the box a few times. DS liked both flavors, but I think he liked the Fruit Punch flavor the best. I gave him his Fruit Punch Sensible Sipper at the beginning of his lunch, and by the time I brought him his meal he was already done with the juice!

It was obvious DS loves the taste of the Sensible Sippers, and I love them because of how it’s healthy and organic, with no added sugar, artificial flavors, or preservatives. I also think it's great how the Sensible Sippers are 50% water, which means I don't have to mix in water with the juice, as I do with other juices DS drinks to reduce the amount of sugar he consumes.

If you visit the R.W. Knudsen Family website, you can
register for a $1.00 off coupon which can be used towards any 8-pack Sensible Sippers Juice Box purchase.

Sensible Sippers is a great product that will satisfy both your little one’s thirst for a tasty drink and your desire to provide one that is convenient, healthy, and organic.

Thank you to R.W. Knudsen Family for providing the product(s) for review and/or giveaway.

90210 Organics

Thanks to Renee aka Mekhismom of Cutie Booty Cakes, I was notified of an opportunity to review one of the many great products offered by 90210 Organics.

According to the website, 90210 Organics "was started by two California moms who are passionate about living naturally and who want to share that passion with the world. Jennifer and Sarah love natural, organic products for themselves and their families so they decided to open a store that reflects that love. 90210 Organics brings everyone looking for high quality organic fashion, natural and organic baby products, and beautiful handmade accessories to one place."

90210 Organics’ product selection is so immense—you’ll find everything from clothing and bedding to skin care and toys. I was able to try one of the many items they offer in the Whole Body category--Noli n Nali Chamomile Willow organic baby shampoo.

The first thing I noticed was that the shampoo smelled really nice. There was no problem working up a good lather, and it contains ingredients that are safe and nourish my hair. Because the shampoo contains no synthetic fragrance, sodium laurel sulfate, or parabens, I had no hesitation about trying it out on DS as well. And now that DS#2 is here, I know once the pediatrician says it’s okay to give him real baths I’ll be using the Noli n Nali Chamomile Willow Organic Baby shampoo on him too!

Passive Aggressive Notes

Did you ever have a roommate who just wouldn’t wash his/her dishes? Or a co-worker you knew was stealing your food? Or a neighbor who had a dog that did its “business” on your lawn all the time?

If you said “yes” to any of the above, did you ever do anything about it?

If you’re like me, you probably didn’t. I’ve had my share of roommates and co-workers constantly eating food that wasn’t theirs, and rude neighbors in college who’d blast their stereos at 3am in the morning every night. But I never did anything about it.

Because of these experiences, it was quite therapeutic to read
Passive Aggressive* Notes—Painfully Polite and Hilariously Hostile Writings *And just Plain Aggressive by Kerry Miller (HarperCollins, $13.95). The book presents notes sent in from around the world, as well as those submitted to the popular website Passiveagressivenotes.com (also by Miller), by people who experienced issues similar to those I previously mentioned.

The book states
“Passive-aggressive people-and the notes they write-display an 'accidentally-on-purpose' ambiguity. Its barbed criticism disguised as helpful advice, a gentle reminder, a friendly joke-anger sugarcoated with pleasantries and smiley faces, but betrayed by one too many exclamation points.”

Passive Aggressive Notes was very entertaining. The notes are funny, some are absurd, and others are downright mean and nasty. The notes deal with various issues that many of us can relate to in one way or the other, whether it be selfish co-workers who don’t contribute to the coffee fund, or roommates who never change the toilet paper roll.

Although some of the notes had a bit too much foul language, I really enjoyed
Passive Aggressive Notes, and it made me appreciate how I no longer have to deal with inconsiderate roommates or co-workers that steal my food…although I still have to deal with the occasional toilet paper roll that hasn’t been changed…

Thank you to HarperCollins for providing the product(s) for review and/or giveaway.

Karen Spaeder's Health and Beauty Zone

I have never tried mineral makeup before until I received an ARTISTRY essentials mineral foundation sampler from Karen Spaeder’s Health and Beauty Zone.

I’ve seen ads in magazines and read articles about the benefits of mineral makeup, so I was eager to try the mineral foundation.

According to the website, “100% pure mineral makeup is a marvel. It’s easy to use; create a flawlessly natural finish; and here’s the best part – it’s actually good for your skin! Preservative and fragrance free, this powder foundation is great for all skin types and helps defend against environmental stressors. Mineral foundation smooths and evens skin tone leaving a simply sheer and luminous finish.”

The mineral foundation was very light and the “finish” was smooth. It wasn’t “cakey” nor did it make my face feel stiff or heavy. I was pleasantly surprised how it actually looked like I wasn’t wearing any makeup, and I love the fact that it’s actually good for my skin.

Pedoodles

DS has some cute shoes, but I recently received a pair of shoes courtesy of Pedoodles that are not only cute, but they are eco-friendly too!

According to their website, Pedoodles’ goal was “to create soft, comfortable, quality footwear that kids really love to wear. In doing so, we've delighted parents and gift seekers alike, with our fun designs that become fast favorites. Our shoes provide the best possible fit for your child's feet, their personality, and the way they live.”

Not only does Pedoodles offer the cutest footwear, but all of their new 2008 styles are eco-friendly! DS received the Bumper Cars shoes. These stylish shoes are not only fun and functional, but they have the following features:

  • Constructed from "Eco-Friendly" premium leather remnants which are safety tested for children(Free of Lead, Antimony, Arsenic, Barium, Cadmium, Mercury, Selenium and harmful Amines.)
  • Exclusive PedFlex™ flat rubber soles provide durability and traction both indoors and out
  • Comfortable, flat insoles create a seamless footbed
  • Simple Velcro closure keeps shoes securely on feet, no laces to tie or come undone
  • Flexible, breathable design with wide toe box promotes healthy conditions around developing feet
  • Soles are made with recycled materials to help reduce global waste. They're also safety tested(Passes British Safety Standard BS 5665-3 and European Standard EN71-3)
  • Unique Pedoodles styling works well as a casual or dress shoe

When DS first tried on the shoes, he didn't take them off all morning! He wore it around the house, danced around, and we finally had to ask him to take it off, which he did very easily because of the Velcro--no need to fuss with laces. The shoes go on and come off quickly. I also like how the shoes go great with anything--t-shirt and jeans or even with a dressier outfit. DS had no problems walking or running (or dancing) around in these adorable shoes, and the fact these shoes are eco-friendly are an added bonus.

Pedoodles offers shoes by age (crawling 0-8 mos, walking 8mos-2yrs, running 2-4yrs), or collection (First Feet or Next Steps). Their shoes are bright and colorful, cute and fun, and you’ll just know your little ones will love wearing these shoes. Pedoodles also offers really cute shirts and hats that would match perfectly with their shoes!

If you’re looking for cute, comfy, eco-friendly shoes for your little one, visit Pedoodles. You’ll love them as much as your kids will!

Aguacate & Co.

My skin has been getting pampered A LOT lately! The newest products to pamper my skin are from Aguacate & Co. According to their website, "at Aguacate & Co. we focus on providing the finest organic and all-natural ingredients for the appropriate care of one of the body's most significant resources: skin…we offer a range of premium skin care products made with organic and natural ingredients, formulated to give men and women a simple, elegant way to pursue a wholesome skin care experience…We are also a proud member of One Percent For the Planet, an alliance of eco-conscious businesses committed to giving back at least 1% of sales to support environmental research."

I was able to try out the Facial Cleansing Gel and the Facial Exfoliating Crème.

The Facial Cleansing Gel is great—so great that DH has been using it too. It contains wild oat to soothe your skin, and organic honey to tighten it. The cleansing gel was mild and the fragrance was not overwhelming—it simply smelled natural! I also love how it comes in a handy pump.

The Facial Exfoliating Crème contains jojoba beads which seem to just scrub away all the “blah” from my skin, leaving it nice and smooth. DH doesn’t use the exfoliating crème, though…because I won’t let him! I now have a “thing” for exfoliates and scrubs—they just work wonders!

In addition to cleansing and exfoliating products, Aguacate and Co. also offers products that tone, moisturize, and replenish. They also offer great gift sets with a little bit of everything, and they sell some cute bags too!

If you’re looking for some great organic and natural skin care products, visit Aguacate & Co. and you may find exactly what you’re looking for!

EcoBrain

For all you book lovers out there who are looking for greener alternatives to "normal" books, EcoBrain may be just what you’re looking for.

I was introduced to EcoBrain through Mommy Go Green Blog Tours. According to EcoBrain's website, “EcoBrain offers a top-quality selection of eBooks and mp3 audio about the environment and environmentally-friendly living. All content on EcoBrain is in downloadable, digital format, so you can buy green with zero use of forest-pulping paper and only a minimal amount of expended energy.”

Why eBooks? Not only do eBooks help save the environment, but you can get your eBook immediately—you don’t need to wait for an actual book to be shipped to you or go to a bookstore to buy one. Also, most eBooks can be loaded onto multiple computers/devices with the proper Adobe Reader program. Imagine going on an airplane with several eBooks loaded on your laptop. Wouldn’t that be so much more convenient, not to mention a lot lighter, than carrying books?

EcoBrain offers hundreds of eBooks in different subjects—sustainable living, cooking, business, and more. A free downloadable eBook is available which changes every couple of weeks, and you can also read and write reviews of eBooks. They even offer an
affiliate program so you can earn money or store credit.

***THIS GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED***

Congratulations to Kerrie!

To help you start your eBook collection or expand your existing eBook collection, EcoBrain is sponsoring a giveaway for the following eBook: Radical Simplicity: Small Footprints on a Finite Earth (valued at $17.95) by Jim Merkel.

A brief description:

“In the face of looming ecological disaster, many people feel the need to change their own lifestyles as a tangible way of transforming our unsustainable culture. Radical Simplicity is the first book that guides the reader to a personal sustainability goal, then offers a process to monitor progress to a lifestyle that is equitable amongst all people, species, and generations.”
