I love to watch Dancing with the Stars, and I had no idea that two professional dancers on the show, Mark Ballas and Derek Hough, have been in the music business together for years and years until I received a copy of the CD Ballas Hough Band: BHB thanks to the One2One Network. The Ballas Hough Band: BHB (ARV $18.98; Hollywood Records) track list includes:
Do You Love Me
Devastated
Closer
She Was The One
Longing For
Birthday
Fall
Do It For You
Break Through
Together Faraway
Underwater
Devastated
Closer
She Was The One
Longing For
Birthday
Fall
Do It For You
Break Through
Together Faraway
Underwater
I admit that I was pleasantly surprised with the Ballas Hough Band. Who knew that these awesome dancers could also sing? And they wrote many of the songs themselves!
Many of their songs are about their own experiences with love and heartbreak (Fall, Devastated), but despite such emotional subjects, some of these songs just make you want to dance (Do You Love Me, Birthday).
Their first single from the album, Do It For You, is one of my favorite tracks. It was co-written by new American Idol judge Kara Dioguardi, and it’s just another one of those songs that I can’t get out of my head. I also enjoy Together Faraway—a mellow song with a very catchy chorus, and Longing For—a sweet ballad.
The CD is also an interactive CD—just pop it into your computer to go directly to various Ballas Hough Band sites, such as their Facebook and MySpace pages.
Shop: You can purchase Ballas Hough Band: BHB at various retailers online and nationwide.
I really enjoyed Ballas Hough Band’s debut album, BHB, and I already can’t wait for their sophomore album!
Thank you to Hollywood Records for providing the product(s) for review and/or giveaway.

Sounds like a cool CD! I am always looking for new stuff to add into the rotation.

I was a bit surprised at this band. I did not expect them to be much good. I have been watching them on Dancing with the Stars and thought this was just another way for them to get noticed. They actually can sing. However, I think they are more for the younger people than the older ones. I believe teens; especially teen girls will love them. They have a blend of sounds like the Maroon 5 and the Jonas Brothers, with a little of the David Archuleta sound. I love the song, “Longing For”. You get to hear Emily Grace on this one and she is really good. Some of my favorites on this album are: “Underwater”, “Do It for You”, and “Birthday”. Mark Ballas and Derek Hough have great vocals and are very talented. Mark wrote most of the songs on the album. On “Ballas Hough Band”, all the songs had the same type of tone and style. It kind of got boring after the first few songs. Maybe they can change up a little on their next album, give adding more variety in they types of songs. I would love to hear they do some soft as well as really powerful vocals. Other than that, this is a great album and is worth its price.
