Gilbert's Gourmet Goodies Giveaway

Unfortunately, allergies to wheat, nuts, milk, and other products prevent many people from enjoying a lot of different foods, but thanks to Gilbert’s Gourmet Goodies, baked goods are available for people to enjoy that do not contain many of the common ingredients that a lot of people are allergic to.

...when I began getting sick after meals for no apparent reason it became difficult for me to enjoy cooking, baking or eating. Finally, after years of numerous doctor visits and tests I discovered that I had developed allergies to a wide range of common foods including wheat, gluten, peanuts, nuts, soy, milk, corn and shellfish. While I was relieved to finally have a diagnosis that could be resolved with a change in diet, I was devastated by all of my food restrictions. I completely changed my diet and learned to eat in a whole new, healthier way and thankfully my health improved. While my family and I benefited from this healthier diet, I am the only one in the family with food restrictions and we all missed my homemade goodies…It took over six months and hundreds of recipes to create baked goods that were up to my standard of taste and texture...I knew I was onto something when my kids and their friends finished off plates of cookies and asked for more. Many people with and without food restrictions sampled my baked goods. I began receiving calls and emails from people who wanted to purchase my products. Parents of kids with food allergies and restrictions. People with food allergies and intolerances. People with Celiac Disease. Parents of autistic children who wanted to eliminate wheat, gluten and milk from their children's diet. People looking for delicious, healthy cookies made without artificial ingredients.

Gilbert’s Gourmet Goodies offers cookies that look so good! I think I’d probably be able to eat all of the Chocolate Chip Paradise Bite-Size cookies all by myself!

Gilbert’s Gourmet Goodies also offers HUGE cookies, cookie dough, tea bread mix, and if you’re lucky enough to live

Nadja Foods Giveaway

When I stumbled upon Nadja Foods’ website after doing a search for organic cookies, I thought her cookies looked so delicious, but then I became even more intrigued by her story…

Nadja Piatka is the founder and President of Nadja Foods, the Ultimate Girls Getaway and the author of 2 Best Selling Books. As an unemployable single mother of two, plagued by creditors and no income, she began baking muffins and brownies at home and testing them on her two teenage children. She was soon selling her baked goods to local coffee shops. When her customer base grew, she commissioned a local bakery to "out source" and deliver her products. With a one hundred dollar investment she grew her business from her kitchen to becoming a international supplier to the food industry. Nadja has appeared on many TV shows including the Oprah Winfrey Show and The Big Idea with Donny Deutsch… Nadja tours as a motivational speaker sharing her amazing professional and personal story of building her business, surviving leukemia, being an unemployed single parent and cherishing every moment in life.

It’s simply inspirational how she has overcome so much and has grown into such a success in the food industry!

Hopefully one day I’ll be able to try one of Nadja Foods’ cookies...and brownies and petite angel cakes too!

The Shandle Review

Whenever Little Music Man goes into the bathroom, he eagerly lifts up the toilet seat. Even though the toilet seat looks clean, who knows what kinds of germs are really lurking on there. Thanks to the Shandle, I no longer have to worry about Little Music Man, or anyone else, touching the toilet seat!

The Shandle encourage kids to practice healthy bathroom habits like proper hand washing, consistent seat lifting/lowering and regular flushing. In addition it provides a cleaner and easier way to lift and lower the toilet seat.

We were fortunate to receive the When Pigs Fly Shandle (ARV $6.99).

Applying the Shandle was easy. I simply attached the Shandle to the underneath of the toilet seat and had to wait 24 hours before first use. Waiting for 24 hours was the only hard part, as I had to make sure Little Music Man didn’t touch it before the 24 hours were up.

Once it was okay to start using, I showed Little Music Man where the Shandle was located, showed him what to do, and read to him what the sticker says.

Lifting and putting down the toilet seat is an easier and much cleaner process because of the Shandle.

Since we’ve attached the Shandle, it has remained firmly attached and I no longer worry about Little Music Man, or any of us, touching the toilet seat.

The Shandle also comes in other designs, including those with Seat Lifting Messages.

The Shandle is a practical product that’s easy to use, easy to clean, and helps to encourage good hygiene!

Shop: You can purchase the Shandle on the Shandle website.

This post was written as part of a program for Family Review Network and The Shandle who provided the product for review.

Kate Earl's Self-Titled CD Review

I recently had a chance to listen to tracks from Kate Earl’s self-titled CD, Kate Earl, (ARV $5.99, Universal Republic), and I was really impressed with her amazing voice and moving lyrics.

I love it when a song comes on the radio and everyone knows the words. It’s the greatest sensation to completely fall into a moment in time, to be swept up, taken under the spell of a lyric a rhyme a melody. When songs evoke the response of turning them up and singing along, it’s magic. I tried to write an album like that.

Tracks include:
1. Nobody
2. Can't Treat Me That Way
3. Melody
4. Only In Dreams
5. All I Want
6. When You're Ready
7. Golden Street
8. Jump
9. Everlasting
10. Learning To Fly
11. Impossible

I really enjoyed Kate Earl’s self-titled CD. She has a beautiful voice reminiscent of some of the popular female vocalists who’ve hit it big over the past few years, and she would appeal to all sorts of music fans, as her songs have elements of various music genres, including pop, rock, and soul.

I loved so many of the tracks, including Melody and Only In Dreams, but my favorite is Impossible—a very poignant song about love and overcoming obstacles.

Can’t Treat Me That Way, All I Want, and Golden Street are also great songs with addicting beats.

Kate Earl is a talented new artist with an amazing, versatile voice, and if you haven’t discovered the talent of Kate Earl yet, check out her
videos and download her songs to hear for yourself.

Shop: You can purchase a download of Kate Earl on
iTunes or at various other retailers online.

Monkey Business Sports' SpiderBall Review

Thanks to Monkey Business Sports, my boys have a super cool ball that they can’t stop playing with!

Here at Monkey Business Sports, we build every toy with the simple goal of providing real fun out there in the real world. We promote healthy, active play with a our safe toys for active boys and girls. It is our goal to stay on the cutting edge of innovation and toy safety so that we can bring quality toys with style and performance to your home. Get ready to get up and play!

Monkey Business Sports offers 6 different SpiderBalls available in two different sizes, and we were fortunate to receive the 3-inch Splatch SpiderBall (ARV $5.00).

When Little Music Man saw me opening up the SpiderBall box, he couldn’t wait for me to get it out!

He was having a blast throwing it around with DH, and of course Smiley Boy wanted in on the fun. If Smiley Boy happened to get a hold of the ball when Little Music Man didn’t catch it after it was thrown, there would inevitably be a little struggle for the SpiderBall—they both wanted to play with it at the same time.

And who could blame them? It’s such a unique and zany ball! The SpiderBall’s legs help to prevent it from rolling away too far, and it’s simply so much more fun to catch and bounce!

The SpiderBall is recommended for ages 3 and over, so when Smiley Boy gets his hands on the ball, I do have to be extra careful, especially since it often ends up in his mouth (like everything else he gets his hands on).

I admit that sometimes when I see the SpiderBall, it catches me off guard, and I mistake it for a creepy-crawly because of its squiggly, long legs, but that's what makes the SpiderBall so much fun! It's just so cool and wacky!

Monkey Business Sports offers a lot of other neat toys that I know my boys would love when they get older, such as the Sky Rockets and Foam Shooters.

For super fun toys for the little monkeys in your life, check out Monkey Business Sports!

Shop: To purchase SpiderBalls, Sky Rockets, and more, visit the Monkey Business Sports Online Store.

Phineas and Ferb Soundtrack Review and Giveaway

Phineas and Ferb is one of the most popular tween animated series on the Disney Channel, and I recently had a chance to listen to the Phineas and Ferb Soundtrack (ARV $14.98) thanks to Walt Disney Records.

Don't miss a beat from the soundtrack to the top-rated and Emmy® nominated Phineas and Ferb. This soundtrack is jam-packed with 26 of your favorite songs from the Disney Channel series including Gitchee Gitchee Goo and the show's theme tune, Today Is Gonna Be a Great Day, performed by Bowling for Soup.

I haven’t watched any episodes of Phineas and Ferb yet, but if the soundtrack, which is full of so many fun songs, is any indication as to how entertaining the show is, I’m sure I’d enjoy it.

There are several cute songs, such as I Love You Mom and You Snuck Your Way Right Into My Heart, which happens to be my favorite track.

There are also many silly songs on the soundtrack, such as S.I.M.P (Squirrel in My Pants), and Gitchee Gitchee Goo.

The Phineas and Ferb Soundtrack is musical fun for the entire family and I can’t wait to check out the show the next time it’s on TV!

Shop: You can purchase the
Phineas and Ferb Soundtrack on the Disney Store website, or at various other retailers online and nationwide.

Win: Two lucky winners will each receive a copy of the Phineas and Ferb Soundtrack!

KSM: Read Between the Lines Review

I had a chance to listen to tracks from the recently released KSM CD Read Between the Lines (ARV $18.98, Disney Sound) and I was really impressed with the girls' powerful voices and songs!

The Runaways, The Go-Gos and the Bangles…Those cutting edge all–girl groups had a profound influence on what made a rock band and who could play in one. KSM may not be the first all-girl rock band– but they are a force that will definitely fit in the same conversation as many of the iconic female bands before them. They are young but talented beyond their years with no pretense -- and they rock. When it comes to making music, Shelby (lead vocals & guitar), Katie (guitar & vocals) Shae (lead guitar), Sophia (bass) and Kate (drums), are a wrecking crew unto themselves. They sing of the world they know -- boys, dating, texting, playing and partying -- yet they also bring a surprising measure of depth to their songs. Says lead singer Shelby, "Being all girl, all teen, we’re usually pre-judged. People don’t expect that much, but we usually convince the audience that we’re a legit rock band, not just a ‘chick band.’ KSM...5 girls taking music into their own hands and ready to show their generation what girl power is all about.

The track list includes:

1. Don't Rain on My Parade
2. Crazy Over You
3. Read Between the Lines
4. Everytime You Go
5. Saturdays and Sundays
6. Permission to Party
7. Distracted
8. Unpredictable
9. Don't Come Crying To Me
10. Best Friends Forever
11. Slow Motion
12. 2 Guitars Bass and a Drum
13. I Want You to Want Me

I loved the Read Between the Lines CD! Even though I’m no longer a teen (just a bit older), I couldn’t help but feel like a teen, as I got up and danced (while I cleaned my house) throughout almost the entire CD.

I enjoyed so many tracks on this CD, including Crazy Over You and I Want You to Want Me, but Read Between the Lines is my favorite—it’s such a catchy song and I love the chorus!

Saturdays and Sundays is a song that even adults can relate to, and anyone with a best friend will find the song Best Friends Forever meaningful.

The girls of KSM can really sing, and don't be surprised if you're singing along with them too after listening to Read Between the Lines!

Shop: You can purchase Read Between the Lines on
Amazon.com, or at various other retailers online and nationwide.

Mad Monster Party Review and Giveaway

I’m so excited because Halloween is just around the corner, and I recently watched an old-school classic for the first time, Mad Monster Party (ARV $11.98, Lionsgate), to get me even more excited for Halloween!

Baron Von Frankenstein (voice of Boris Karloff) has decided to retire as the head of the Worldwide Organization of Monsters. But first, he must inform the other monsters about his plans. How to deliver the news? How else - through a MAD MONSTER PARTY! Von Frankenstein’s guests include a who’s who of Halloween favorites, including the Werewolf, Dracula, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, the Mummy, the Invisible Man and more. But who among them is fit to be the new head of the monsters?

Mad Monster Party is a 1967 stop-motion animation film that I never heard of before, but as a child I grew up watching stop-motion holiday shows so I couldn’t wait to watch it.

Children may enjoy Mad Monster Party simply because of the amusing characters—the monsters are not really scary at all, but I think adults would love the DVD more, especially those who grew up watching stop-motion classics, like Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer and Frosty the Snowman. There’s also a lot of witty jokes that only adults would understand.

The Monster’s Mate, voiced by Phyllis Diller, was my favorite character. She is just so funny. All the characters were quite endearing in their own ways, and they all added to the humor of Mad Monster Party. Some of my other favorite characters included Chef Mafia Machiavelli and Felix Flankin.

After watching
Mad Monster Party, I could tell why it’s a “cult-classic.” It’s a funny DVD with elements of drama, mystery, and romance. Who knew a stop motion animation classic could be so intriguing?

The special features include Mad Monster Party: Making of a Cult Classic Featurette and It’s Sheer Animagic! Secrets of Stop-Motion Animation Featurette. It was so neat to see how the idea behind Mad Monster Party began and how stop-motion animation is created.

I really enjoyed watching
Mad Monster Party—the perfect DVD to watch to get you into the Halloween spirit, and simply a fun DVD to watch any time of year!

Shop: You can purchase Mad Monster Party on the Lionsgate Shop website, or at various other retailers online and nationwide.

Win: One lucky winner will receive a copy of Mad Monster Party!

Sprout Foods Review

I try to give Smiley Boy organic baby food whenever possible, and so I was really excited for him to try Sprout Foods.

We use nature’s purest organic ingredients. Our chef, Tyler Florence, brings out the food’s natural wonderful flavors. It’s all delivered to you in a revolutionary eco-friendly convenient package.

We were fortunate to try the following Sprout baby foods (ARV $16.65/12 3.5 oz pouches): Step 1 (6 months and older) Baked Sweet Potato, Sweet Peas; Step 2 (7 months and older) Sweet Peas & Garden Green Beans, Oatmeal with Roasted Cinnamon Applesauce, Roasted Bananas & Mango, Sweet Baby Carrots, Apples, & Mango.

I like that the Sprout Foods
takes up less space in my pantry than jars, but sometimes I did find it a little difficult to get all the food out. Sometimes I’d try scraping the bag, and other times I'd just squeeze the bag to get out as much food as possible without wasting a lot.

Of course, the fact that it’s all organic is the biggest reason why I love Sprout, and I'm sure the food was yummy, since Smiley Boy ate them all up without any hesitation. I must admit that when I opened up the Oatmeal with Roasted Cinnamon Applesauce it smelled so good I was tempted to try it myself!

Sprout offers other interesting foods and combinations that sound so delicious, such as Summer Squash, Yukon Gold Potatoes & Parmesan, and Peach Rice Pudding!

Although not everything we eat is organic, I do try to get my family to eat organic whenever possible, and it’s great to know that more and more organic baby food options are available, such as Sprout Foods.

Shop: To purchase Sprout Foods, visit the
Sprout Baby website, or click here to find a retailer near you.

Mabel's Labels Review

Although Little Music Man started school a couple of months ago, I still find myself needing to label things—new shoes, extra clothes, more supplies... Thanks to Mabel’s Labels, I received an awesome pack of labels that has everything I need to make labeling quick and easy!

When it comes to labeling for back-to-school, no one beats Mabel's Labels! In creating the Ultimate Back-to-School Combo, we listened to our customers and the result is a perfect collection filled with exactly what you need. Offering playful ways to identify clothes and shoes, bags and lunch gear, and everything in between, our value-packed combo is a bestseller year after year. Order the original and best back-to-school combo - after all, it was designed by moms like YOU!

The
Ultimate Back-to-School Combo pack (ARV $39.00) includes 50 Tag-Mates, 40 Skinny-Minis, 16 Shoe Labels, and 2 Teeny Tags.

I had picked the Nature Lover color scheme with a Train icon, and I have already used so many of the labels! I’ve used the shoe labels on the new shoes that we bought for Little Music Man, the Tag-Mates on his extra clothes that we’re constantly sending to school (he sure gets dirty at school!), the Skinny Minis on the additional supplies we occasionally need to get, and the Teeny Tag on his backpack (although Little Music Man’s teacher made all the students tags for their backpacks, the Teeny Tag is so much cuter!).

We’re also using the labels at home. We put labels on Little Music Man’s cups and toys so he knows which one is his and which one is his brother's, or someone else’s if we’re on a playdate or a relatives house.

Mabel’s Labels are convenient and durable, and the back-to-school combo pack is so practical!

Go Diego Go!: Diego's Arctic Rescue Review and Giveaway

Little Music Man loves animals, and he learned about some new animals after watching the recently released DVD Go Diego Go!: Diego's Arctic Rescue (ARV $16.99, Paramount Home Entertainment).

In this Diego's Arctic Rescue! DVD, we embark on the journey of a lifetime to save the baby polar bears. The DVD includes this double-length adventure plus two more action-packed journeys.

Episode Descriptions:
The Great Polar Bear Rescue: It’s an adventure in the Arctic when Diego teams up with Baby Jaguar, Alicia, Dora the Explorer, and lots of animal friends to save some baby polar bears from the melting ice! Will you help on the great polar bear rescue?

Puffin Fishing Adventure: Bundle up for adventure in Greenland as you and Diego help Puffy the Puffin lead the baby puffins to a fishy snack.

Where is Okapi’s brother? Hop aboard the Mobile Rescue Unit with Diego, Alicia, and Baby Jaguar to search the African rainforest for a missing okapi!

Little Music Man had so much fun watching
Go Diego Go!: Diego's Arctic Rescue. Polar bears are featured in one of his favorite books, so he really enjoyed The Great Polar Bear Rescue. It was also really neat for him to learn all about puffins, which look similar to penguins, and the okapis, which has parts that look like a zebra and a giraffe!

Little Music Man learned several different Spanish words, and he loved whenever he “helped” Diego and his friends during their adventures. He had a blast jumping over the animals and hopping on ice floes, and he got excited every time he helped Diego find the polar bears, puffins, and the okapi.

Go Diego Go!: Diego's Arctic Rescue was really “cool” and a lot of fun and one day I hope to take Little Music Man to a zoo where he can see the different animals that were featured in Diego’s Arctic Rescue!

Shop: You can purchase
Go Diego Go!: Diego's Arctic Rescue on the Shop Nick Jr., website, or at various other retailers online and nationwide.

Win: One lucky winner will win a copy of Go Diego Go!: Diego's Arctic Rescue!

Eating Right Kids Review

Thanks to Team Mom, Little Music Man got to try out some products from the Eating Right Kids line, which is available at Safeway.

Looking for something your kids will want to eat with better-for-kids nutritional benefits? Eating Right Kid™ and Warner Brothers Looney Tunes have teamed up to bring you meals, snacks, cereals and drinks your kids will love—and you’ll feel good about. Similar to Eating Right™, each Eating Right Kids™ package features the color-coded Spot Your Needs System™ on the front—so you can find important nutritional information in seconds! Along with great taste and great nutrition, Eating Right Kids™ is fun, too. Because the whole Looney Tunes gang is ready to get kids eating right with games and activities right on the packages!

We were fortunate to receive an Eating Right Kids lunch bag which contained a Pasta Rings with Meatballs meal, Mixed Fruit Cup, Berry Milk Chocolate Coating Chewy Bar, and 100% Apple Juice (prices vary by store).

The Pasta Rings were quick and easy to heat up in the microwave. It was a fairly large serving, and I ended up giving Little Music Man only a third of the container. We tried giving Little Music Man ring-shaped pasta before and he refused to eat it, so I wasn’t sure if he’d eat the Eating Right Kids pasta. At first he immediately pushed it away, but after adding some cheese, and some encouragement from DH to try it, he ended up eating the rest of the bowl.

He gobbled up the fruit for dessert, which was no surprise because he loves fruits, and he quickly drank up the apple juice too!

We gave Little Music Man the bar for a snack. He never ate a “bar” snack before, so I wasn’t sure if he’d eat the Chewy Bar, but he loved it! It’s great that it contains no high fructose corn syrup, and the bars are convenient to keep in my purse for whenever he wants a snack when we’re out and about.

The Eating Right Kids line offers a variety of options for breakfasts, lunches, dinners and snacks--cereals, chicken nuggets, pudding, and more!

It’s great to know that the Eating Right Kids line is available at Safeway. They’re quick, easy, and healthy options to have on hand, and having the Looney Tunes characters on the packaging adds some fun!

The next time I'm at Safeway I plan to stock up on some of the Eating Right Kids products so whenever I don’t have time to cook dinner I can give Little Music Man something healthier than fast food, and the next time he wants a snack I can give him something more wholesome.

Shop: You can purchase Eating Right Kids products at Safeway locations.

Thank you to Team Mom and Warner Bros. for providing the review products.

Atkins Cuisine Review

Thanks to Mom Central, I was able to try out two new Atkins products--Atkins Cuisine Penne Pasta (ARV $3.99) and Atkins Cuisine All Purpose Baking Mix (ARV $12.99).

Atkins All Purpose Baking Mix: Enjoy all the baked foods you love, even when you're living low-carb. With Atkins All Purpose Baking Mix, you can bake delicious breads, muffins, pancakes, biscuits and even cookies.

Atkins Penne Pasta: Eat your favorite foods without compromising your diet. Atkins Penne Pasta. Incredible taste, half the carbs and ready for your favorite sauce in minutes. Who's hungry?

With the All Purpose Baking Mix, I made cookies using a modified version of the
Atkins Cuisine Cookies recipe. The cookies turned out really good. I even let Little Music Man try a piece of one. After he tried it, he kept asking for "more cookies please."

With the Atkins Penne Pasta, I made a broccoli and cheese casserole, and it tasted like any other casserole I've made before using "regular" pasta.

I was pleasantly surprised that both the cookies and the casserole tasted good, especially since I've tried "low-carb" products before and some didn't taste good at all.

If you have a great recipe idea using one of the new Atkins products, you should enter the recipe contest to win prizes valued at $1500!

Aside from the delicious food you can make with new Atkins Cuisine, there's a big reason to order your Penne Pasta and All Purpose Baking Mix. Six perfect creations will win. Become an Atkins community member and start creating the perfect recipe for our contest now. Hurry, September 30, 2009 is the deadline for entries.

If you’re living a low-carb lifestyle or simply want convenient, healthier meal options, it’s great to have the Atkins Cuisine Penne Pasta and All Purpose Baking Mix on hand!

Shop: You can purchase Atkins Cuisine products on the Atkins Cuisine Official Online Store, or click here to find a retailer near you.

I wrote this review while participating in a blog campaign by Mom Central on behalf of Atkins and received samples to facilitate my candid review. In addition, Mom Central sent me a gift card to thank me for taking the time to participate.

The Zula Patrol DVDs Review and Giveaway

We’ve only seen The Zula Patrol a few times before, so it’s great that we now have a couple of The Zula Patrol DVDs so Little Music Man can watch the show more often.

The Zula Patrol: Moons Mayhem (ARV $12.98, Well Go USA): Travel to Earth's Moon with Wizzy to find out if there really is a Man-in-the-Moon! Watch as Bula turns into a Were-Mouse! Will Multo find a cure in time to save him, or will Bula be a Were-Mouse forever? Come along for the ride as Dark Truder tries to steal all the Moons in the Universe! Get the real story behind how Gorga became Bula's best friend - and a member of The Zula Patrol. Hang on to your seats as Venus spins out of control and Io explodes in magnificent colors!

Episodes:
Moon Struck
Me, Myself and Io
Blue Moon
Going Through A Phase
Moons Mayhem Three Ring Gorga

Little Music Man sure learned a lot of information about moons, such as the different types of moons, how planets got their moons, the phases of the moon, why Jupiter’s moon Io heats up like a rubber ball, and if the moon is made out of cheese or a man.
I learned a whole lot too! It was so interesting!

The Zula Patrol: Animal Adventures in Space! (ARV $14.98, Well Go USA): Join The Zula Patrol (Bula, Zeeter, Multo, Gorga, Wizzy and Wigg) on five laugh-filled adventures as they search for stolen frog eggs, help restore life in the canyon on Zula, solve the mystery of the missing honey, and tunnel through the dirt with their new worm boot camp comrades to save their little ecosystem--and all this as an alien invasion tries to take over planet Zula. And don t be surprised if you also discover a little something about the importance of the plants and animals in our environment.

Episodes:
Larvae or Leave Me
Egg Hunt
There Goes the Neighborhood
Choosing Sides
Camp Worm

Little Music Man learned so much about the life cycles of insects, how frogs grow from tadpoles, how animals live in all sorts of different habitats, how the ecosystem is made out of many components—living and non living, big and small, and how earth worms are very important!

These episodes were also very informative, and Little Music Man's favorite episode was There Goes the Neighborhood, because he loved identifying the different animals.

Little Music Man enjoyed The Zula Patrol DVDs and they sure refreshed my memory on things I learned back in school! Learning about moons was really cool and now Little Music Man keeps saying “moon,” whenever he sees one—on TV, outside, in a book. The Multo Moments are also very helpful, offering a summary of the information learned in each episode.

When Little Music Man is not watching the DVDs, he can enjoy even more of The Zula Patrol on
ZulaWorld.com.

For “out of this world” fun that’s also educational, check out The Zula Patrol!

You can purchase The Zula Patrol: Animal Adventures in Space! And The Zula Patrol: Moons Mayhem on

Kiss My Face Kids Line Review

I always try to use safer personal care products on my kids, and thanks to Kiss My Face, I received a whole bunch of great items to try out on Little Music Man!

Kiss My Face all-natural body care company is no newcomer to the recent explosion of green product marketers. The brainchild of two long-time vegetarians searching for healthy body care products, Kiss My Face was founded on a 200-acre organic farm in New York's beautiful Hudson River Valley. It is still located in the Hudson Valley today, operating out of a former feed store and converted barn. From moisturizers to liquid soaps, shower gels to toothpastes, shaves to deodorants, Kiss My Face has products that are effective and good for you.

I was fortunate to receive a whole bunch of goodies from the Kiss My Face Kids line: Orange U Smart Self Foaming Hand Wash (ARV $7.95), Shampoo & Conditioner (ARV $8.95), Detangler (ARV $8.95), Walter the Whale of a Soap Duo Pack (ARV $7.95), Self-Foaming Shampoo & Body Wash (ARV $8.95), Bubble Wash (ARV $9.95), and Berry Smart Fluoride Free Toothpaste (ARV $5.95).

All of the products smell so good, and of course I couldn’t resist but to try some of them out myself. I tried the Bubble Wash and the Shampoo & Conditioner. Although it seemed a little hard for me to work up a good lather with both items, they seemed to work well, and I felt clean and smelled great after a shower!

I’m often using the Shampoo & Body Wash on Little Music Man. Although sometimes I feel the foam doesn’t last too long and I often have to squeeze out more, I think it’s great that the Shampoo & Body Wash can be used on Little Music Man from head (or hair) to toe. I love multi-tasking products!

The Walter the Whale of a Soaps are so cute that you almost don’t want to use them, but it really makes bath time more fun!

Can you believe we’ve used the Detangler on Little Music Man? His hair grows really fast and it can actually get tangled up, making combing difficult, so DH has been using the detangler on his hair to make combing it easier. I think he must be the best smelling kid in his class!

The Toothpaste smells really nice, and it’s great that there’s a fluoride-free option since Little Music Man still hasn’t mastered the art of spitting just yet.

The Self-Foaming Hand Wash is great. Little Music Man loves it and seeing all the foam encourages him to really scrub his hands.

It’s great to know that Kiss My Face offers products for the entire family that are made up of safer ingredients, and doesn’t include bad stuff like parabens and sodium lauryl sulfates. Now I can’t wait to try out other products from Kiss My Face!

Shop: You can purchase fantastic personal care products for the entire family on the
Kiss My Face Webstore, or click here to find a retailer near you.
Thank you to Kiss My Face for the review products!

Walgreens Digital Temple Thermometer Review and Giveaway

Thanks to Mom Select, I was fortunate to try out a new thermometer-the Walgreens Digital Temple Thermometer (ARV $29.99).

Walgreens Digital Temple Thermometer: Utilizing a unique sensor, R.A.T.E (Rapid Accurate Temperature Establishment) rapidly samples the heat flowing from the blood vessels to the skin surface and translates it accurately to the body temperature.

Features:
Fast & Accurate
Large Backlight Display
Fever Alert
For use on Temple or Underarm
Memory Recall

Using the Digital Temple Thermometer on Little Music Man or myself was really simple. Although at times I wasn’t sure I placed it exactly on the temple, the readings did seem accurate. However, trying it out on Smiley Boy, an infant, was difficult. He was very squirmy and constantly moved his head while trying to grab the thermometer. Even though the thermometer takes approximately 6 seconds to take a temperature, for Smiley Boy it just wasn’t possible, but others may have an easier time with their own infant.

You also have the option of getting a temperature in underarm mode, and a really neat feature is how the Digital Temple Thermometer can read a room’s temperature!

The only minor drawbacks I found to this thermometer were that it took a few seconds before you could actually use it once you power it on (with other thermometers I have you can take a reading immediately), and that if you want to take another temperature reading, you had to turn off the thermometer and wait 2 minutes before turning it on to take another temperature (although I did try to take a reading without waiting the two minutes and it seemed to work just fine).

Overall I think this is a handy thermometer to have on hand. It’s non invasive and easy to use.

I just hope I don’t have to use it too often!

Shop: You can purchase the Walgreens Digital Temple Thermometer on the Walgreens website, or at a Walgreens location near you.

Win: One lucky winner will win a Walgreens Digital Temple Thermometer!
