Nosefrida Review and Giveaway

Whenever my boys get a stuffy nose, we always use bulb nasal aspirators. However, I’m always wary about using them because of what I’ve read about possibly irritating the nasal passages and making things worse. So I was really excited to try out the Nosefrida Nasal Aspirator (ARV $15.00), which is an aspirator that’s used on the nose versus inside.

Nosefrida is a Swedish product that has been on the European market for over ten years. It is manufactured by Nasalprodukter AB in Malmo, Sweden. www.nasalprodukter.se Nosefrida is available in most European countries as well as in Australia, parts of Asia and South America.

I discovered this wonderful invention when I visited family in Sweden when our son was just 6 weeks old. He caught a horrible cold and could not nurse, breathe or sleep. The bulb syringe was no help. We were in a panic and took him to the doctor. The local pediatrician wondered why I hadn’t been using a Nosefrida.

Everyone there has one, but I was not aware of the product at the time. My husband literally ran to the pharmacy to buy one, and our trip was saved. We have now been importing Nosefrida for over a year, with great success and support from pediatrician’s, ENT’s, pulmonologists, nurses, midwives and other medical professionals. We are confident that you will agree with millions of parents that Nosefrida is the most efficient, safe and natural way to relieve your child’s congestion.

Since Smiley Boy was sick, I decided to try it on him. He normally doesn’t like the regular nasal aspirator, and sure enough, when I tried to use the Nosefrida on him it was a struggle. DH had to help me keep his head still. Once I could get the Nosefrida on his nostril to create suction, I literally sucked away, and out came all the snot.

It was a little unnerving to see all that snot coming out while I was sucking, but there’s a filter that prevents mucus transfer. For those wary about catching your child’s cold when using the Nosefrida, you can check their
FAQs page for more information.

It was easy to “suck” all the snot out, and DH actually commented how it was “cool!”

Cleaning the Nosefrida was simple, using water and/or rubbing alcohol (depending on the part), but I did have to really shake the small tube to get all of the water out.

Although you do have to buy extra filters for (ARV $2.50/20 pk), I think that’s a small price to pay for something so easy to use!

It’s inevitable that Little Music Man will have a stuffy nose and I know when we try the Nosefrida on him it’ll be much easier than when we tried it on Smiley Boy.

The Nosefrida did a great job of sucking all the snot out of Smiley Boy’s nose, and I know it’ll be put to good use time and time again in our home.

I was happy to read a study including 43 kids concluded that Nosefrida effectively reduces the accumulation of mucous, improves feeding & reduces sleeping problems in children suffering from respiratory infection.

I love that the Nosefrida doesn't put anything inside the nose and you control the
amount of suction you apply so it does not irritate the sensitive lining of the nose. With a new baby coming this month this would be a big help.

The tube has to be pushed very hard until you hear it snap into place. There is a groove inside
that makes the 2 pieces fit together snugly.
