For the past several days, Smiley has not been napping.
We'd put him in his room and he'd just play, lie down and sing, play some more...he just won't nap!
Musician still naps (he's in preschool), and I thought probably by the time he goes to Kindergarten he'd stop napping, and I thought that's what would happen with Smiley too.
But it seems like he's already dropping his nap.
At first I thought maybe he's still adjusting to Baby arriving and maybe not napping was just a way to get more attention, but after asking fellow Twitterers when their kids stopped taking naps, I realized he really may be done with napping! I was so surprised at the varied responses (thank you @Gingermommy, @aspiringmama, @lovemykeiki, @shuggysmommy, @citythreads for your feedback)!
For some reason I thought kids generally stop taking naps closer to Kindergarten!
I don't know why I thought that...I guess because I remember taking naps in preschool and Kindergarten myself.
When did your child(ren) stop napping?

My little guy is 2 1/2 and he's already gone through a couple of phases where he skips the nap. It's my theory that these are times when his growth has slowed down and his ody just doesn't need to sleep. I do, however insist on quiet time when he doesn't sleep - laying down and reading or listening to some quiet music for 1/2 hour or so seems to be enough to keep the crabby attitude away.
These no-sleep rests can last from a couple of days to over a week for us. My oldest is 13 now, and he went through the same thing. He stopped nap time once and for all at around 5 yrs.
HTH!
I have two daughters, and as soon as they hit two years old, the daily naps stopped. They would take an occasional nap now and then, but not every day.
Both my girls quit taking naps around 3--though they would take one occassionaly if we went to the park for a couple of hours in the morning.
My daughter's 2.5 and she'll skip naps here and there but for the most part still naps every day for about 2 hours. She's my only so I'm sorry that I'm not much help.
