Have You Ever Taken Anything from a Hotel?

I recently read an article and saw on the news and talk shows about how hotels were getting high-tech and installing tracking devices in their hotel towels, and there was also a lot of discussion about the other kinds of things people would take--from little things like toiletries, to big things like paintings and mirrors.

I'm one of those that usually takes the toiletries--the little bottles of shampoo, conditioner, and lotion.  That's it.

However, there was one time that we did take something else from a hotel-by complete accident.

I promise.

It was actually from the hotel where we got married at.

We stayed overnight after the wedding, and as part of the wedding package, we'd get souvenir champagne glasses to take home.

The evening after the wedding, we had chocolate covered strawberries, champagne, and a couple of champagne glasses delivered to our room (also a part of wedding package).

The next morning, we packed up the champagne glasses that we used the night before to drink the champagne, along with everything else from the wedding (gifts, flowers, left over food, etc.).  We also packed up an unopened gift that was given to us by hotel staff.

When we got home, we opened up the gift from the hotel, and it was the REAL souvenir champagne glasses-with their pretty logo!

Oh my gosh!

I thought the glasses that we used the previous night were our "souvenir champagne glasses."

I just felt so stupid.

My former co-worker now works for the hotel as the security director.  He also attended my wedding, and I know the next time I see him I'm going to have to tell him this story.

Have you ever taken anything from a hotel (accidental or not)?

This may not count.

A few years back we checked into a motel in Coos Bay, OR. As usual, we had our dogs with us.

The owner of the property was real concerned about how our dogs would mess things up. The owner went into the 'cleanliness' thing at length.

The next day when were checking out, one of our dogs crawled out from under the with a pair of dirty underwear that wasn't ours.

I took the underwear to the front desk. I told the clerk, "Our dog finished cleaning our room for you."

They were embarrassed to say the least.

I didn't actually take the underwear, so I am not sure this counts.

I always take the little shampoos, soaps and lotions and another thing I always take is all the extra tissue, lol. Anything I know I can take, I will because I paid for the room after all!

Sometimes I take the little lotions and bottles, but I very rarely do that anymore. I get so much swag from conferences that I really don't want anything else.

Honestly, I've only stayed at a hotel that had anything nice enough to "take" once, and they had these great notes letting you know what was complimentary (scented oil) and what wasn't (nice bath robes). I took only what was allowed!
