Zucchero: Chocabeck CD Giveaway

Adelmo Fornaciari – better known to the world as Zucchero ("Sugar") – is Italy's most beloved rock star and one of the biggest Italian artists across the globe, having sold some 40 million records over three decades.

His new Decca album, Chocabeck, is simultaneously a concept album about Zucchero's roots and a milestone achievement in an extraordinary international career.

Chocabeck was recorded over sessions in Italy, London and Los Angeles, with the singer writing or co-writing the songs and playing multiple instruments. Bono contributed the English lyrics for "Someone Else's Tears," and Iggy Pop provided English words for "Too Late" and "Spirit Together." Roland Orzabel of Tears for Fears wrote the English lyrics for "Life," and co-wrote "God Bless the Child" with Zucchero. Whether delicate acoustic numbers or stirring orchestral ballads, the songs on Chocabeck loosely follow the cycle of life in an imaginary countryside hamlet not dissimilar to the one in northern Italy where Zucchero was raised.

"I've traveled around the world for many years, and it is now more important than ever for me to reconnect with the sights and sounds and feelings of life in a village community," he says. "I like to live a simple life with my family, observing the old traditions. And this is what my music is truly all about. It comes from inside my soul. It is all about emotions, deep emotions."

Win: One lucky winner will receive a copy of Chocabeck!

Upromise Celebrates its 10th Anniversary!

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of UPromise for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

Upromise, which was launched 10 years ago as a way for people to earn money for college for themselves or their children or grandchildren by shopping at their favorite stores, is giving away $20,000 to users who share a story of what their dreams are for their children.

Users simply submit a story by visiting www.upromisetodream.com, and they can also vote on their favorite stories by "liking" them.

I submitted my own short story about Musician, who is special needs.

My dream is to be able to provide him all of the services and resources he needs to be able to live as normal a life as possible without having to worry about what others think or letting his diagnosis or anything else get in the way of him achieving all that he wants in life.

I dream that he'll one day be able to comprehend how special he really is.

Whether your dream for your child is to graduate from high school, attend college, become a lawyer, take over the family business, or simply be able to inspire others, submit your story.

Upromise is giving away $1,000 to 10 winners each week, and a grand prize winner will receive $10,000.

Submit your dream or help someone else's dream come true by visiting the Upromise Dream Wall (click here for dream wall official rules).

What are your dreams for your child?

Vitabath Fragrance Collection Body Wash Review

Whenever I buy body washes I always look for those that are sulfate and paraben-free, and I recently got to try a body wash from the Vitabath Fragrance Collection that not only contains no sulfates or parabens, but also smells wonderful and works great too!

For over 40 years, Vitabath® has remained unequaled for gentle skin cleansing and conditioning. Enriched with botanical extracts and fortified with vitamins, it will leave your skin feeling soft and healthy. We invite you to shop online and indulge in our four luxurious formulas and discover "Luxury in a Bottle."™

The Vitabath Fragrance Collection – 16 new sulfate and paraben-free body washes.  The playfully-scented collection of four fragrance profiles – Spa Day, In Bloom, Fruit Fanatic and Cupcake Couture – contains a blend of Vitamins A, B3, C, E, Pro-Vitamin B5 and antioxidant-rich superfruits for a rejuvenating and nourishing experience.

I was fortunate to receive a bottle of Vitabath Spa Day Green Tea & Sage with Aloe Vera body wash.

The first thing that impressed me was the packaging. I loved the colors and the simple, yet pretty design.

The next thing I noticed was the scent. I always smell body washes whenever possible to make sure the scent is not overpowering, and the Green Tea & Sage body wash smelled very pleasant and refreshing.

The Vitabath body wash lathered well and left me feeling clean and smelling great!

I love that the body wash is full of antioxidants and vitamins that are good for my skin, and the price is very reasonable compared to what I pay for other body washes.

I will definitely be looking for Vitabath body washes the next time I go shopping, and I look forward to trying the other fragrances in the collection!

Shop: You can purchase Vitabath Fragrance Collection Body Wash at Fred Meyer, Ricky’s Beauty, Harmon Drugs, Bed Bath & Beyond, Ulta Cosmetics, AAFES and Stages stores, in addition to www.myvitabath.com and other locations (SRP $9.99).

Yoplait Light with Granola Review and Sam's Club $40 Gift Card Giveaway

Everyone in our family loves yogurt, and thanks to MyBlogSpark, we were able to pick up some Yoplait at Sam's Club.

When we got to Sam's Club, there was no shortage of Yoplait products.  It was hard to choose, but ultimately we ended up getting the Yoplait Light with Granola, Strawberry flavor (a 6-pack is $5.87 in Hawaii).

Musician couldn't wait to try it.

At first he was little surprised that the yogurt was "crunchy" because of all of the granola, but after that first bite, he just couldn't stop eating it!

The Yoplait Light with Granola makes a yummy snack, healthy dessert, and even a quick and delicious breakfast!

We'll definitely will be picking up more Yoplait Light with Granola from Sam's Club once we run out!

Denise Austin: Sculpt & Burn Body Blitz DVD Review and Giveaway

Forget the “blah” and bring on the “Blitz!” This September, Lionsgate presents the brand new workout DVD from America’s favorite fitness leader, Denise Austin: Sculpt & Burn Body Blitz. A high-intensity cross-training cardio workout, Austin takes the very best training methods to sculpt lean muscle in all the right areas. Each powerful workout – including mixed martial arts, athletic conditioning, cardio sculpt and kettlebell-inspired moves – helps to boost metabolism to dramatically reshape your body in just 30 days.

An innovator in fitness, Denise Austin has sold more than 25 million workout units (DVD and VHS). In addition to the 30-day workout plan, Denise Austin: Sculpt & Burn Body Blitz also includes custom workout and music-only options.
I've been a fan of Denise Austin since I was in college, so I was excited to try out her new Sculpt & Burn Body Blitz DVD.

There are four different workouts at 10 minutes each, along with a warm-up and cool-down for 5 minutes each.

On the DVD she recommends a 30-day workout plan, which begins with one 10-minute workout plus warm-up and cool down for the first week, gradually adding more workouts until you do all of the workouts on the DVD.

The Mixed martial Arts and Athletic Conditioning workouts do not require weights, but the Kettlebell-Inspired workout requires one weight and the Cardio Sculpt requires two.

From the Warm-Up I already started breaking a sweat!  The five minutes went by quickly, thanks to a lot of different warm-up exercises, with my favorite being the matrix series in which Denise showed exercises being done from all sorts of different angles.

The Mixed Martial Arts segment, my favorite of the four workouts, involved a lot of kicks and punches.

The Athletic Conditioning was a bit tough for me.  Some of the moves were really hard for me to do, such as the "gymnastics" moves.  I found myself out of breath many times throughout this segment!

The Kettlebell-Inspired moves involved a lot of swinging of a single weight and twisting of your body.

The Cardio Sculpt did a great job combining cardio and strength-training to create a nice workout for the entire body.

Denise is very encouraging throughout the DVD, and what I like most about Sculpt & Burn is how you can customize the workouts based on your preferences or the time you have available.  If you only have time to do 1 or 2 segments, or perhaps you really like the Cardio Sculpt and Mixed Martial Arts segments, you can easily create your own customized workout!

As I continue to do the Sculpt & Burn Body Blitz I'm sure the exercises will become a lot easier and I'll be able to get through the entire DVD without losing my breath!

Shop: You can purchase Sculpt & Burn Body Blitz at various retailers online and nationwide (SRP $14.98).

Win: One lucky winner will receive a copy of Denise Austin: Sculpt & Burn Body Blitz DVD!

Justin Hines: Days to Recall CD Giveaway

There’s a moment in every artist’s life when he knows that music is not only his path, but his destiny. Even though Justin Hines grew up singing in church at his grandmother’s behest, his realization came at the most unlikely of places— at a Toronto Raptors’ basketball game in his hometown 15 years ago. A then-14-year old Hines won a vocal competition to sing the National Anthem— both the Canadian and American— at the game and his world opened up before him. “In that moment, it all seemed possible,” he recalls. “The performance eliminated any stage fright.”

Hines has thrived all his life against odds that would daunt someone with a less indomitable spirit. Hines has Larsen Syndrome, a joint dislocation condition that confines him to a wheelchair. “The reality is I don’t really look at my situation as that big a deal,” he says. “We all have our things that challenge us, just some people’s are a little more visible in the forefront. Mine is very apparent, whereas others wear it on the inside.”

That natural optimism permeates much of his American debut, “Days to Recall,” (available now) the singer/songwriter’s collection of heartfelt songs about life and love. “I don’t want to pretend that dark times don’t exist, but I have a hard time leaving things negative,” he says. “I think every challenging situation leads to something better. When I’m writing I don’t do it consciously in the songs, it’s just how they evolve.”

For more information about Justin Hines, to listen to some of his songs, or check out some his videos, visit the Justin Hines website.

Win: One lucky winner will receive a copy of Days to Recall!

Frank's RedHot Thick Sauce Review and Giveaway

Whenever we go to Super Bowl parties or any other kind of sports-related get-together, I make spicy boneless chicken wings and they're always a hit.  A big reason why they're so popular is because of the sauce we use--Frank's RedHot Original Sauce.

I love Frank's RedHot Original Sauce, so I was very eager to try Frank's RedHot Thick Sauce.

    Frank's RedHot Thick Sauce:
    • Same great taste as Frank’s RedHot Original, but with a thicker consistency
    • Great for grilling burgers, chicken, ribs, and even corn on the cob
    • Perfect for dipping appetizers, such as spring rolls, chicken nuggets, French fries, and mozzarella sticks.
    • Ideal for dipping and spreading

Frank's RedHot Thick Sauce did not disappoint.  I've used the sauce on breakfast burritos and nachos, used it as a dipping sauce for chicken nuggets and fries, and I've even used it on casseroles (yes, I LOVE hot sauce).

The consistency of Frank's RedHot Thick Sauce was noticeably thicker, but it still tasted just as good as the Original Sauce.

With football season underway, it'll be great for those times when I make my special spicy boneless chicken wings, and it would also be great in dips and other appetizers.

If you love hot sauce just as much as I do, try Frank's RedHot Thick Sauce!

Win: One lucky winner will win a bottle of Frank's RedHot Thick Sauce.

    Hawaiian Time

Locally, a lot of people use the term "Hawaiian Time" to describe arriving late to a function or appointment.

However, not everyone goes by "Hawaiian Time" in Hawaii.

    I don't.

I'm usually always early whenever it comes to appointments, parties, or any other kind of meeting.

If I am late for whatever reason (e.g. traffic), I always make sure to call someone to notify him/her.

I admit, now with three kids, it's a bit harder to get to places on time, but we almost always do.

I do have friends that are habitually late and have even worked with people who always came into the office late.

I guess for some "Hawaiian Time" is a way of life.

What about you--are you usually early or late when it comes to meetings/appointments/etc.?

    Blurb $75 Gift Code Giveaway

I recently posted a review on Blurb, a site through which I made a really beautiful photo book for a gift, and the recipient absolutely loved it.

Here is an excerpt from my review:

Blurb is a company and a community that believes passionately in the joy of books – reading them, making them, sharing them, and selling them.

Holding a finished book with your name on the cover is a truly amazing feeling; it’s one of those experiences everyone should have. As software people, designers, and publishing professionals at the top of our game, we realized something both incredible and obvious: there’s no good reason why it should take tons of time, technical skills, big bucks, or friends in high places to publish a book. Or a zillion books, for that matter.

So we put our minds together, and developed a creative publishing service simple and smart enough to make anyone an author – every blogger, cook, photographer, parent, traveler, poet, pet owner, marketer, everyone. (This means you.)

Blurb offers all kinds of sizes and styles to make photo books which suit a variety of tastes and budgets. You can create a simple, classic book, or create one with all sorts of customization...

After I got my photos in the order and positions I wanted them, I designed the cover and was able to preview the book before I ordered it.

I thought it was great that you're warned if the resolution for printing is too low, therefore you can resize the photo or choose to add another.
The only issue I had with the overall process was that I couldn't find an option to store photos. For example, I deleted the original book I made and wanted to start from scratch, but I could not find an option to drag and drop photos that were previously uploaded, so I uploaded my photos all over again...

Despite that, the overall book-making process was really simple and quick, and once I received the photo book, I was VERY impressed.

The quality was great, and the photos were so nice and clear!

If you want to create a special photo book for yourself or a loved one, visit Blurb, and right now you can save 20% by clicking here.

Win: One lucky winner will receive a $75 gift code to create a Blurb photo book!
